Private practice for aesthetic medicine & surgery

Hand and wrist complaints

Hand and wrist problems

Your hands perform at their peak every day – gripping, working, writing, touching, and feeling. If pain or restricted movement occurs, it can quickly become a burden. At our private practice for aesthetic medicine and surgery Schoenheits-Hand-Werk experienced specialists are at your service. Dr. Gunther Oldag, your hand surgeon in Germany, offers comprehensive diagnostics and individually tailored treatment options to effectively alleviate your discomfort.

The process is simple and straightforward: You book your appointment conveniently online and receive a confirmation as well as a reminder the day before. In a detailed consultation, we will take the time to understand your concerns and work together to find the optimal therapy – tailored precisely to your needs.

Nerve compression syndromes (carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar sulcus syndrome, etc.)

Nerve compression syndromes arise from swelling, chronic inflammation, and overuse due to pressure on nerve pathways, leading to pain, numbness, tingling paresthesia, and weakness in the hand. A classic symptom is sitting in bed at four in the morning with numb fingers, shaking out your hand. In our practice, we offer, among other things, effective treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome – both conservative and surgical, depending on the diagnosis. Afterward, you can sleep soundly again.

Annular ligament stenosis, de Quervain's tenosynovitis, tendon dysfunctions

Tendon disorders can be caused by overuse or inflammation. Pain when gripping or restricted movement are common symptoms. From tendonitis (tendovaginitis) to trigger finger (stenosis of the tenosynovitis ligament), we offer effective treatment strategies to restore mobility and eliminate pain.

Thumb base joint osteoarthritis and other types of osteoarthritis

Rhizarthrosis, the most common form of osteoarthritis in the hand, typically leads to severe pain and resulting loss of strength, for example, when unlocking a door or opening a jar of jam. Other arthritic changes in the hand can also restrict mobility. We rely on modern treatment methods – from injections to surgical procedures.

Bone fractures (hand & wrist) and other injuries

A fracture of the hand or wrist can permanently impair its function. We offer comprehensive care, from immobilization (conservative treatment) or surgery (promptly after the injury) and postoperative care – thus creating the best conditions for your hand to regain stability and strength.

Dupuytren's disease (flexion contracture of individual fingers)

In Dupuytren's contracture, a benign tumor grows in the palm of the hand, originating from the connective tissue structures of the palm. As the tumor grows, it leads to restricted movement (extension deficit) of the affected fingers. We use modern techniques such as microneedling to restore finger mobility – often without major surgery. Our specialized treatment offers a gentle alternative to traditional surgery. As an experienced hand surgeon in Germany, Dr. Gunther Oldag learned this method at the renowned Hôpital Lariboisière in Paris-Nord and combines his expertise with the latest medical findings. His precise, minimally invasive approach allows many patients to benefit from faster recovery and improved hand function.

Wrist pain, wrist ganglion

Wrist pain can arise after an injury or due to predisposition. A wide variety of causes are possible and must be identified through thorough diagnostics. Depending on the cause, the most effective treatment for wrist pain may be non-surgical (conservative) or surgical, taking your individual wishes and circumstances into account.

Hand surgery reports for private accident insurance

Our therapies

Shock wave therapy

Shockwave therapy is specifically used to treat hand and wrist problems. It can help release adhesions in tendons, reduce inflammation, and promote blood circulation in the tissue. In the best-case scenario, this can provide lasting pain relief and support healing. It is used, among other things, for:

  • Tendon irritations (e.g., tendovaginitis, De Quervain syndrome)
  • Chronic tendonitis of the hand or wrist
  • Delayed bone healing after fractures of the hand or wrist
  • Painful adhesions and scarring after injuries

Magnetic field therapy

This non-invasive method uses pulsed magnetic fields to promote tissue regeneration and relieve pain. It can be particularly helpful in improving mobility and reducing inflammation in cases of chronic hand and wrist pain. It can be used for:

  • Degenerative joint diseases
  • Pain therapy
  • Sports injuries
