What is meant by the treatment of small areas with botulinum toxin?
Unlike treatments for larger areas, wrinkle treatments for small zones focus on specific, delicate areas of the face. Typical examples of small zones include lip flip (upper lip), lip wrinkles, lateral eyebrow lift, bunny lines (nose wrinkles), and frown lines. The treatments are performed with pinpoint accuracy and very low dosages to achieve natural-looking results and preserve your individual facial expressions.

Please note: Muscle relaxation can lead to a noticeable decrease in strength in the upper lip. Drinking with a straw, licking a spoon, or pressing the lips together may be temporarily difficult. Because only a very small amount of the active ingredient can be injected to preserve lip mobility, the effect often does not last as long as with other botulinum toxin treatments.
Limitations: If a stronger desire for fuller lips or a longer-lasting effect is desired, a combination with a filler may need to be considered.
Bunny Lines – Harmonizing fine nose wrinkles
Fine lines along the sides of the nose, which are particularly visible when smiling, can be gently smoothed with botulinum toxin.

The depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscle pulls the corners of the mouth downwards, making the face appear serious or sad. Targeted suppression of this muscle with botulinum toxin helps to lift the corners of the mouth – for a more relaxed, friendly appearance.
Suitable for: Patients with permanently downturned corners of the mouth or a tired facial expression.

How does botulinum toxin work on small areas?
Botulinum toxin inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at the nerve-muscle junctions. This reduces muscle contraction, smoothing the skin over the treated area. The effect begins approximately four days after injection and reaches its maximum after about four weeks.
Depending on muscle activity and individual metabolism, the effect usually lasts for about four months.
However, the duration of the effect may be shorter, especially in people with very pronounced facial expressions or intensive physical activity, as the muscle is stimulated again more quickly through frequent activity.
Because particularly low doses are used in small muscle areas to avoid completely relaxing the muscles, the treatment must be very precisely calibrated. Especially in contour-sensitive areas such as eyebrows or corners of the mouth, slight asymmetries may occasionally occur.
